Showcasing International Prestige
It has been a long time since many of us have had something to
look forward to after the global pandemic put paid to holidays,
social plans and public events being cancelled.
However, with November looming fast on the horizon Portugal's
overall tourism sector looks to be getting back to some form of
normality as we welcome two world-class events over the same
weekend.
The eleventh month in the annual calendar will get off to a
blistering start in the heart of the Golden Triangle. Firstly the
hotly anticipated Portugal Masters will tee off on the 4th November
before swinging into four days of transmitted action LIVE on
SkySports.
A day later on the 5th November, the MotoGP motorcycle
championships is set to attract nearly 70,000 people and generate a
€40 million turnover for the local economy. This will go a long way
to maintaining tourism throughout Portugal, as the country looks to
get back to normal after COVID-19.
This new revenue has come as a welcomed boost for Luís Araújo,
president of Turismo de Portugal. According to
PortugalResident.com, he has dubbed the tournament "an
important moment to showcase the international prestige of our
country".
Portugal Masters 2021: 4th-7th November
Taking place at one of highly regarded and most sophisticated
golf courses in Portugal, the Dom Pedro Victoria Golf Course
Vilamoura will stage the 2021 competition - 14 years since its very
first tournament back in 2007.
Vilamoura is the perfect location for this prestigious event
with glorious weather on a unique course, but not forgetting the
wide and undulating fairways, extensive water obstacles and well
positioned bunkers that are sure to have the professionals at their
best.
The Victoria golf course Vilamoura will reward heroic bravery,
but it may catch a few people out throughout the four day
contest.
Every year in October, the Algarve welcomes many star players
from the PGA Tour. Past winners have included some of the game's
finest names such as: Gearge Coetzee (2020), Padraig Harrington
(2015), Shane Lowry (2011) Lee Westwood (2008) and many more. If
you are lucky enough to win you could pocket a cool €1.500.000 in
prize money - that should be enough to buy yourself a new set of
clubs we should think…
MotoGP Motorcycle 2021 Championships: 5th-7th
November
Like many events across the calendar over the past 18 months,
the 2021 MotoGP Motorcycle Championship was affected by the global
pandemic, leading to the cancellation or postponement of many
races.
After much deliberation, it was decided that COVID-19 would
postpone the running of the Argentine or American Grands Prix.
Instead, it was announced that both the races would be replaced
with a second round in Qatar and a further round in Portugal.
Much like the Portugal Masters, the competition will almost
certainly put the Algarve on the map once more and hold Portugal in
high esteem for future competitions in the sporting calendar.
This latest wave of positivity recognises the quality of our
undoubted facilities and tourism infrastructures that now exist
within Portugal and the golden triangle. We are incredibly proud to
showcase our international prestige for our country to our
holidaymakers and the local community.
With some light at the end of the tunnel and things starting to
open up again, it won't be long before your plans for freedom
abroad will be considered for the latter part of 2021 and the new
year ahead.
