A Cracking Christmas In The Algarve
While there will be some making the most of the Christmas sales,
you could instead have your feet up with a cocktail in hand as the
lead up to the celebration of birth for the baby Jesus gets
underway. Although we can't promise our Lord Christ will be making
an appearance on Portuguese sands, we can promise luxury and a
break that offers so much more than the norm of Christmas in
Britain - sometimes it's all about trying something new, along with
the other 3.5 million making the most of their holidays!
Whether you're a fan, or not quite so keen on all things
Christmas, The Algarve provides traditional and alternative
thoughts, it is an ideal Christmas destination for all to enjoy. As
English is spoken by many, most common goods you would find in
Britain are found in the local supermarkets.
While you might struggle to find yourself a Turkey for your
festive lunch, Bacalhau (codfish) and their traditional Christmas
cake called the Bolo Rei (King Cake) are just some of the
delicacies to try during your stay.
You might miss The Queen Lizzy's traditional speech back home,
but it will be far from your mind when you're relaxing in your
luxury villa in a family environment lapping up the t-shirt
temperatures or venturing out for a few rounds of Golf on our
stunning courses in Vilamoura and surrounding areas. But hang on a
moment, let's not forget the concerts and street parties in the
evening where you can embrace the culture of Portugal's very own
countdown festivities - the choice really is yours.
One change you might experience is the Christmas celebrations
starting on the evening of the 24th of December - nothing wrong
with starting early!
Other Christmas traditions include Portuguese families coming
together for an evening meal, which is then followed by midnight
Mass where the gift-giving starts!
While the 25th is a more low-key event locally, we won't stop
you opening your presents and enjoying your own plans for
Christmas. Although if you're thinking of heading out to celebrate,
we recommend to pre-book a table for a Christmas meal in your
preferred location.
Due to the the popularity of many tourists visiting areas such
as
Quinta Do Lago,
Vale Do Lobo and
Vilamoura, more hotels and restaurants remain permanently open.
There is a lively Christmas spirit throughout with decorations and
lights to brighten the already excitable mood shared by all, as
well as the Christmas markets and last minute present buying not to
be missed. Not only this, but The Algarve also provides excellent
value for money!
You can benefit from low-cost airlines from Faro Airport to
Southern Portugal and then once you arrive, food, drinks and
transport follows suit within a low budget - you might even want to
stay until the New Year celebrations!
If that's the case, then you can enjoy the variety of firework
displays, live music and the bustling atmosphere throughout our
stunning Villa settings, as you welcome 2019 in style!
However long you plan to stay in our luxury villas throughout
the Christmas and New Year period, we're happy to advise and
